Hi there Notosobrite,...

Have been there twice, beginning of the year. Had a great time. Heard in August is raintime ...
Donot hesitate to visit Costa RIca, there is a lot to do without tourists. Try Lonely Planet-guide, Tico Times-guide and Moon Handbook ...

Have fun, greetzzz RoyJava

We spent a week in Costa Rica about 5 years ago - in the Spring. Weather was very nice.

Visited mostly the Pacific coast and central area. Great for ecotourism, rainforests, volcanos (climbing Arenal Volcano at night - with a guide - while it is erupting is an experience). Whitewater rafting is good. There are several canopy tours in the rainforests available.

Hope to go back sometime.

My husband and I were there (Jan '05). We were also nervous about all inclusive, but in some parts of Costa Rica it's the best (and sometimes the only) way to go. We had a fabulous time at La Paloma Lodge (eco lodge near Corcovado National Park on SW Pacific side). I highly recommend it if you like nature, like to do a bit of hiking, like good food, and want to stay in a fairly upscale place, but also small enough that they know you by name after first day. Have fun!

I just got back from Costa Rica, the Pacific coast was the place to be. In the interior highlands there was rain and fog. I would also suggest getting a lonley planet. We rented a car in San Jose and drove around for three days. We logged 450 miles, the roads can be rough but they take you to places well worth the bumps. If the weather is good check out Monteverde and Arenal. Also if you can find it Eco Canyon.

Have fun, get lost!

if you want to waste a lot of money all inclusive is the way to go. costa rica is so cheap if you compare all inclusive to doing it on your own you will save more doing it on your own. if you are worried about trying to do it on your own then maybe all inclusive is the way to go but why not live a little and just go for it try to do it on your own

Costa rica has every thing to offer. We have stayed twice at the Tambor.
It is a great hotel and all inclusive. has everything to offer. Food is great and prices are not bad for the stay. We stayed there because it has many things for the kids to do. Great beach to walk and tours from the hotel.

There are many nice places on the west coast, which are smaller and more remote. Food is cheap to eat out and very good.

I have many links on my page to some of the places to stay which you will not find from travel agents.

There are many activities to do, also. It has so much to offer. If you can get there do skytrek you will never forget it.
any questions just ask
