Vietnamese Nationals of the Opposite Sex and you...
Posted: Mon January 31, 2005 01:59 AM UTC
I read a statement about Vietnamese Nationals of the opposite sex not being allowed in your hotel room at certain times of day...

Does any know if this is a 'policy', 'law','fact' or 'fiction'?

If i meet a nice girl do I slide the concierge a few dong?

Don't misconstrue my intentions of this trip, I'm just a young guy out having a good time in responsible and ethical fashions.

thanks,
cong tu

Fact; Law. No Vietnamese nationals (of either sex) in the hotel rooms of foreigners after a certain time of night. I think it is 2200 or 2300.

I don't know about bribing the hotel desk clerks, though.

Some travel guide books suggest that the low-end hotels might turn a blind eye to the law, however.

Have you ever witnessed this in action?

Is it enforced?

In Hanoi, I saw men going to a budget hotel room with fancy-dressed women during early morning hours (like 8:00am).
As for slipping some money, it usually takes care of the problem.
