| Córdoba | Granada to Cordoba Posted: Sun January 30, 2005 10:05 AM UTC
Hola,
We will be in Malaga for two weeks in May as a base for our travels. On May 2nd we will be driving to Granada for two nights during the Festival of the Crosses. We will leave Granada on the morning of May 4th. Questions: • Would it be very difficult to drive from Granada to Cordoba for lunch and an afternoon of sightseeing? How long would the drive take? • Once we leave Cordoba how would it be driving back to our base |

Córdoba is some 100 miles from Granada and it should take you just over 2 hrs. There is no highway, but the road is in good condition and there is not much traffic – or at least that was the case when I drove a couple of years ago. Most of the drive is quite scenic, along endless olive groves and cereal fields.
Córdoba’s old town is quite small and easy to explore in just a few hours, definitely worth the trip! Good luck

Hve not tried driving that route but generally speaking the roads and driving in Andalucia are good. I would use the www.viamichelin.com site for driving directions and timings. They give up to date information about the roads and have always found them accurate. We are off to Granada in 2 weeks but will be relying on public trasport. Thinking of going up to Cordoba on the bus and that can take 2 1/2 hours (direct). It's cheap to use the bus in Andalucia and they are usually very comfortable. There are frequent buses between the major cities. Then probably shooting down to Sevilla on the high speed AVE. Cordoba to Sevilla is possibly about 1 hour on this train which is very comfortable. Have already travelled down from Madrid on it.
