Shopping tips

Hi everyone,
One of my girlfriends and I are visiting Hong Kong and hoping to get lots of shopping in. We don't want the typical tourist traps in Tsim Tsa Shui...can anyone recommend some good malls or street boutiques that locals shop in, and the associated subway stops? We are both 20 years old, if that helps. I like Hong Kong street fashion.
Also, in which area would we find international designer boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Gucci, etc.?
Thanks in advance.

hi, welcome to HK!

Granville Road in Tsim Sha Tsui is a great shopping street with lots of boutiques selling young fashion and footwear.

For international designer shops, you can go to the Landmark in Central or the Pacific Place in Admiralty or the department store SOGO in Causeway Bay.

Happy shopping!

Cheers,

There's always Stanley's Market. And also the Ladies' Market.

Hi, I went to Hong Kong last Jan 10 and so far... the best shopping place I've been where in Mongkok (Night Market)... It is located near Kowloon. Well, there are always available maps in HK and it's very easy to understand. You could ride MTR coz there's a direct station to Mongkok.

If you are near in Tsim Sha Tsui, you can go to Temple Street. It's a walking distance from Jordan and Nathan Road. The items are really cheap and you could do bargaining. The stores are open from 5pm til 1am.

If you are looking for designer items... you could go to Grandville... or near the CENTRAL Station. I think there is a place there called Times Square just like in New York. They have a lot of designer stores in there.. You could go there via MTR. Much much easier and faster.

Good luck and happy shopping... :)

Just remind that Times Square is located in Causeway Bay. There are many shops there. Also you can visit Harbour City which is located in Tsim Tsa Shui.

Firstly go to the star ferry terminal on Kowloon, and find the HK tourist board shop. Pick up a map of HK and it shows loads of shopping malls.

Next to the star ferry terminal is Harbour city and ocean terminal shopping malls, where you will find most of the shops your looking for. Also try Pacific Place on HK island.

But the best places to go are the markets, Ladies market, Temple st night market and stanley market.
And bargain hard. if you see something you like for say 300 HK$ bid for it at 200 HK$ and work till you get a price you are prepared to pay. If they dont bite start to walk away, they will usually be interested in a sale. I've even seen a seller catch someone up in the market, to secure a sale.

Have fun!!
