Sounds like an incredible place! Has anyone on here ever been?
How did you get there? Are there any settlements of any size, do you have to be self-sufficient in terms of food? And what about the nuclear testing that went on there - is there any risk to health still? |

Indeed, Arctic islands must be really amazing, but in Russia extremely difficult to reach. Another candidat is Vrangel Island in Chukchi sea, which houses a state reserve (or is ir national park?) and might be easier to get in. There is no public transport anyway to any of the islands.
Otherwise, Svalbard and Greenland are in the same league and can be accessed much easier (and cheaper).
