How hard will it be to get a hotel room without reservations in May/June. I'm hoping to stay as cheap as possible. Thanks

I have never been in May or June, just off season November, 3 times. I think without reservations it would be very hard and if you are on a budget even harder. Why not look for something inexpensive now and make the reservations?

We really want to keep our options open as far as what village in the Cinque Terre to stay in and how long to stay, thats why. But if it's really hard to get a room without reservations maybe I'll look for a place, any suggestions?

If It is inexpensive you need , there is a very nice youth hostel in Manarola. We stay in Manarola at Baranin, where we have been very happy. In Vernazza, people did actually come up to us on the street (old ladies generally) and ask if we needed a room for that night, but like I said, that was in November. I honestly do not think you would be unhappy in any of the towns, they all have unique personalities but also are easily accesible to each other by train.

During this time of the year it can be hard to find a place without having a reservation. If you want a nice place to stay just down the way, consider Ms. Vesigna Edi in Riomaggiore. She is quite reasonable and her rooms/apartments are very nice. You would need a reservation with her for that time of year
