| Zanzibar Island | Zanzibar - Breezes Beach Club & Karafuu Posted: Tue January 18, 2005 09:02 AM UTC
Hi
I'm looking at going to Zanzibar on honeymoon in July / August and possibly staying at the Breezes Beach Club. Can anyone give me any info about what this place is like to stay there for around 10 days? What is the food like? What are typical prices for meals? The other option is Karafuu but I have already heard some negativity about that. ANY information you could give me would be gratefully received!! You can email me on marclyon25@hotmail.com Thanks - this really is appreciated!! |

We have had the pleasure of staying at Breezes and can honestly and whole heartedly recommend it. It is a wonderful place with an amazing beach and our only regret is that we were only there for 5 days after our safari. The people at the hotel and the setting were fantastic, we would go back there tomorrow!! Have a wonderful time, if you take our advice we are sure you will have a memorable honeymoon. Good Luck. Callum, Louise and Leila (Spain). P.S,
. we were there at the end of August, beginning of September and we had great weather. Take a camera as the beach is amazing.

I have spent 3 days in Zanzibar .... and it was almost enough. It is a fantastic place, very very romantic, perfect for a honeymoon (we went there for the same reason). But I would say that 10 days is maybe too much, unless you are just willing to have some lazy time on the beach.
For more diversity you could take a trip along the island, from north to south, or the other way arround. From Stone City is not more than 50 km to the north point. It is a different world, very poor, but very interesting. Food is not a thing to worry about. All hotels have very nice European food. Why not take a boat trip to Dar Es Salaam, too? And make sure to visit the Prison Island. They have a nice colony of giant turtles there. Plus, you would rent a local's dow to get there (that can be arround 25 euros, I think this is what we had to pay) and that would add a little bit authentic flavor to your trip. Nice honeymoon! mujgabi

Hi All,
Just like m.lyon, I have exactly the same questions as him (only that I will be in Zanzibar early June) plus a question about the beach: Is it good for swimming? I see many pics of that beach but no one swimming in there! I do not want to spend that money and fly all this way for a resort that I can only swim in its swimming pool! Many thanx & regards, Irene

if you want to swimm i would recomend you to take a trip on the other side of the island. it's a few hours drive only. there are some nice hotels and fantastic beaches over there. Spend a day or two in Stone city, visit around and then move there for your resting on the beach holiday. The drive there would also give you a nice overview of what the rest of the island is about. Regards, G.
