Dear friends,

I want to visit Kandegedera, Devalegama but cannot locate this area on the map of Sri Lanka. If anybody knows where it is, North, South, or the center, pls, let me know. Aslo, has this area been affected by the tsunami recently?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Have checked the map but cannot locate the specific places.

Anyway, if you could find out a main location nearby, the map below could be of great help. It's got plenty of links with detailed information of the areas in search.

And nevertheless, if you visit Sri Lanka it can be very helpful anyhow.

Hi there,

I don't know if this info is of any use to you.

Firstly you will be travelling further inland from the coast to the region of the country known as Gampaha.
You will need get a taxi or Van or Bus to take you to Kegalle. From Kegalle ask for a bus to Devalegama. From here you have to rely on the help of the locals so it would be a good idea to go in a Taxi.
With regards to Kandegedera the only reference I could come up with is that it may be located on the Kurunegala - Puttalam Rd.
I know the are vaguely well but it would make more sense if you were to ask the taxi driver.

Hope this helps

I know another Kandegedara in Uva Province, the closes city to that is Badulla, its about an hours journy from Badulla IIRC.

And there are several dewalegamas in Sri Lanka. The Name Dewalegama means "The Village belongs to the (Hindu) Temple ". Considering there are hundreds of ancient temples in all parts of the country, you could find number of devalegams in Sri Lanka.

Also there are several "Kandegedara"s too. So you would want to know exactly what place you want to find about.

Thanx for taking time. Well, I am not good at Sri Lanka's geography yet, therefore my question might have been wrongly formulated from the very beginning. I just want to see one monk residing at

Pothgulgala Aranya
"Pahankanuwa"
Kandegedera
Devalegama
SRI LANKA

If anybody helps me locate this place, that will be wonderful.
Thanx & 1000 blessings!
