| Holguín | Breezes Costa Verde hotel, Holguin, Cuba Posted: Sun January 16, 2005 09:12 PM UTC
My nephew is getting married in Cuba in December of 2005. My husband and I have never been to Cuba before and are excited to go to attend the wedding and vacation at the same time.
They are looking at the Breezes Costa Verde hotel in Holguin. I've done some searching for information on it and find that the sites listing the hotels in Holguin don't include this one so I'm curious about it. Can anybody tell me anything about this hotel? Is it a good place to go? What are the names of the hotels around it? What is the service like? The rooms? I appreciate any and all information. Helen |

Hi ! My niece went to Holguin in Jan 2005 and she stayed at The Breezes. As a water problem happened , she has been moved to Playa Pesquero a 5 star hotel near the Breezes which is also nice. We went in 2004 to Playa Turquesa which is also a very nice place to stay. All these hotels are close together.
Have a nice trip !!!!!! Gilles

The Breezes Costa Verde is a beautiful hotel and perfect for a wedding. Adjacent to the east is the Maritim Costa Verde, and to the west is the Pesquero. All three of these hotels share the same beach, which is the best beach in the area. It has the best snorkelling at the east end of the beach, and has a beautiful river on the west end for kayaking up.
I would think that Pesquero is too big, and Maritim rooms are definitely not as nice (although the service there is great) Breezes Costa Verde is about 14 km. west of the tourist town of Guardalavaca, and a $10.00 taxi ride. There you will find a Cuban beach, an artist's market and some stores. Should you choose to be in Guaradalavaca itself, then I would suggest the hotel called "Las Brisas" and be sure to reserve "in the villas" . I was there two weeks ago, and there were 6 weddings in one week. If you like ritzy, the finest hotel in the area is Rio d'Oro, where the food is fabulous, the doorman wears white gloves, and the price reflects the service. This hotel is half way between Las Brisas in Guardalavaca and the Breezes Costa Verde.

Hi there, First off, the resort that you are interested in is now called Playa Costa Verde. I have been there twice and I am going back again in April.
It is great! The staff memebers are like family and they treat you very well. There are 3 different "a la carte" restaurants that are must to try: Japanese, Italian and Cuban. You can reserve tables at the front desk when you check in. There is a huge pool with all kinds of activities and then there is the beach. There is sailing, suba diving, snorkling, peddle boats...you will have a great time. There are also some day trips that you can go on and your travel co-ordinator at the hotel will give you all this information, probably the morning after you arrive because some of these trips have to be booked in advance. I am sure you will have a fantastic time, I know I did, that is why I am going back. If you need any more information just ask. Oh ya.....they don't accept U.S. dollars and you can change your money at the front desk. Enjoy.

No, the resort that you are talking about is the resort next to the Playa Costa Verde....you can see it from the beach. I have heard that it is good.
Enjoy

hi me my husband and 2 children stayed at the breezes costa verdehotel in september.we had a lovely time didnt want to come back.we flew the day after hurricane ivan was supposed to hit but luckily it missed.the weather was great the whole time we were there.rained once.rooms were cleaned daily.food was good but i am quite fussy .my husband loved the seafood .i loved the japaneese.the beach is white.there are 2 freeform pools and a kids pool so no problems trying to find somewhere to swim.bring some bananas to the sea.the fish love it.water is clear blue .we had a long walk 1 day and we had little fishes swimming by our feet.the hotel is very clean.bring plenty of mossie repelant.service was very fast and efficient.we did tip occasionly but even when we didnt we got fast service.the cubans are lovely people.also the only place i have been and the men arent trying to chat you up even when you are on your own.love dthis place.would reccomend highly.

I saw your posting and I had to reply.
I went to that hotel last year with my boyfriend for a week and had a great time. While we were there there was a wedding on the beach. It's not the ideal place to have a wedding. To get to the beach you have to cross over a wood bridge thats on top of a small stream that stinks! Everytime we went to the beach we had to hold our noses it was that bad! So that alone kills the romance! I felt sooo bad for the couple especially the bride who had to wait in that area for the ceremony to start! The first day we arrived there was a wedding at another hotel down the beach wich looked much much nicer!.....sorry i dont know the name. The wedding at Costa Verde wasn't as nice and the decorations looked cheap, they didnt even use real flowers!!! The hotel is great for a vacation but not a wedding. The service was great and you cant complain about the food. The only other thing wich I'm sure you've read is the coral in the water is pretty bad, if you're looking for a white sandy beach this is not the place. The room was big and very nice except don't be surprised if you find some bugs. Like I said it's a nice place to go Cuba is amazing and we will return but it's not a nice place to have a wedding!!! Just found this post and in the event you did not get this figured out - Breezes Costa Verde is now known as Playa Costa Verde. Do not confuse it with the Blau Costa Verde (used to be Maritim and LTI before that) which is next door. Hope the wedding plans are going well!!!
