| Gimmelwald | Hotels? Other? Posted: Thu January 13, 2005 07:40 AM UTC
My boyfriend and I are going to Europe in May/June. We read a tiny bit about Gimmelwald in one of Rick Steves books and now we think we want to work it into our trip. Does anyone have anymore info on where to stay cheap there and just basic info on the village itself? Anything would be helpful cuz were not totally sure that we want to go their yet anyway. Thanks

I don't have any suggestions for accomodations but I know the Rick Steves book does.
i just want to forewarn that Gimmelwald is extremely small. You can walk from one end to the other in less than 5 minutes. If what you are looking for is strictly beautiful views then it's for you. Muerren which is easily reached from Gimmelwald offers much more in accomodations and eating options.

I don't know a Grimmelwald in Switzerland. But if you want to know something about Grindelwald. Try www.grindelwald.com/
Hope that helps!

Check out gimmelwald.com.
This is a great site; it will tell you all you need to know. You may want to stay at the Mountain Hostel.

of course does Gimmelwald exist. It's a tiny village in the Lauterbrunnen valley. I have no clue why, but it seems to be one of the favourite destinations for american tourists....sure it is a nice village, very small with a lot of rural life. There are no cars, but also no shops and only farmers who sale some dairies on the street. The mountain hostel is very popular and the guy there is smart enough to bring a lot of tourists up there! But it's really worth it! It's peacful an quite like nowhere else! It's swiss alpine life like it had been a few hundrert years ago!
