Re: Transport From The Airport Posted: Sun January 9, 2005 02:43 PM UTC
hello there, i have just answered a similar post, and am more than happy to repeat it. i also am going to prague in two weeks time and this is what i am probably going to do. the below is quoted from a site.........http://www.andel3w.dk/antuser/groups/hotel-apollon.htm though biased to my hotel i am staying in, it still gives you a rough idea.
If you don't wish to be picked up by a private driver but still want to enjoy a good quality transfer service we suggest you to take one of the airport taxis in front of the arrivals hall. There are always enough of them, they're reliable and bring you all around Prague. The cars used are white Volkswagen Passats with air conditioning and can be recognized by the VISA stickers on the doors. But, although there is a VISA sticker, you cannot pay with a VISA card. The fares are reasonable and the drivers trustworthy:
- In Prague: ranging from 120 to 870 CZK (according to the zone) - Outside Prague: 25 CZK / km
If your destination is within one of the zones on the map, used by the taxis, a discount of 20% is offered for the return journey. A map of price zones is available at the FIX-AIRPORT CARS counter in the arrivals hall, on the information column at the taxi stand, and in each of the vehicles.
AIRPORT TAXI (NO BOOKINGS CAN BE MADE IN ADVANCE) Service will be paid directly to the driver. Type of Car: Passengers From To Volkswagen Passat Up to 3-4 120 CZK - 870 CZK
approx £2-3 - £ 18-20 despending on where, so not a major rip off, just remember to agree on a fee prior to moving off. (always barter) best wishes, lee
