| World | VT Meeting in HK?! Posted: Tue February 11, 2003 02:27 PM UTC
Hi Hong Kong VTers!!!!
I recently attended the VT meeting in San Francisco. I was given Baton_West to pass on to a VT member in Hong Kong. The new owner must pass Baton_West on to another VT meeting place West of Hong Kong. I will be in Hong Kong the weekend of February 19th. Would anyone like to meet in Hong Kong to be Baton_West's new parent? For more information on Baton_West, please refer to http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/539c2/. Bond_Girl |

Hi Joyce!
Great to hear from you. Are you up on the Baton deal? Would you be able to move it somewhere west sometime in the near future? In any case, I could love to meet up. I'm from San Francisco, CA and haven't been to HK in years. BG

I am very new to this VT website, so I know very little about the deal....I am in Hong Kong now and will go to Spain in late April. Am I eligible?

Hi Joyce!!
Actually, that would be a perfect opportunity for you to "pass the baton!!" You and Bond_Girl can set up a meeting in Hong Kong....then when you receive the baton and reach Spain.....where in Spain will you be traveling? We have tons of VT friends in Spain and you can arrange a meeting with them then!! This would work out perfectly!! ;-> G_G

Hey Bond girl, how long will you stay in HK? I have pretty tight working schedule in February but I will be more than happy to meet you up and any other VTers in HK!
Geisha_Girl , I will spend 1 week in Sevilla, and another week in Granada and Madrid. Any suggestions or advice for me? I am almost to book a hostel in Madrid but I haven't found one in Granada yet for the booking is quite full already >.<

Hi Joyce,
I myself have not been to Spain yet, but I am planning a trip in August. I actually have a posting already on information for Spain: http://www.virtualtourist.com/f/p/2ab9/ Feel free to jump into the discussion, introduce yourself and see if any of our friends from Spain who are already in this posting can assist you with your plans for April. You can also see if any of them would be interested in meeting you while in Spain so you can "Pass the Baton!" This is great teamwork! G_G

Hi All!!!
I'm so excited to hear of your interest in a VT meeting. Baton West must be passed to the first VT person that is moving West. We can duke out the details at the meeting. Yen2, vigi, and JoyceHK, let's finalize the plan. I will be in HK 2/20 to 2/26. Let's meet up Sunday evening, February 23, for dinner. Do you have any suggestions for a great restaurant or a place with entertainment. BG

I am looking forward to being passed on to one of you wonderful people.
Please remember to take a picture of the passing, maybe in front of some Hong Kong landmark, to commemorate the event. I will post in on my page. http://www.virtualtourist.com/Baton_West Have a safe trip, Bond_Girl West

Yes that's real, bond girl, that's pretty near to my office but....I suggest not going there as the service is bad, it's even more real! really really bad... I'll tell you the funny story a Malaysian friend of mine when he went there later.....
What about somewhere in Wanchai? We can go near Exhibition Centre to have the "ceremony", with the Victoria Harbour as our background, then we go bar hopping in the disco nearby......

dear all....
honestly, i do not know of a good restaurant except when my HKG friends take me out to some serious CHINESE restaurant. if i may suggest, please make it CHINESE as HKG is well known for that.... I know for sure that JUMBO is a tourist trap and a landmark, but I'll be good to go for kicks.... as for hang out / drinking holes or a place for photos to proof that it is HKG, this is my proposal: 1. meet at STAR PIER next to Ocean Terminal (we all can stand infront of the STAR PIER sign).... OR 2. meet at JUMBO seafood....need help from local HKG VTers to make reservations....if noti can do it through my office or the conceirge of my hotel in hkg. (need head counts) 3. if we meet at star pier.....we can play it by ear and check out the local restaurants, suggestions please all HKG VTers. 4. after dinner or DINNER here!! , FELIX (atop Penninsula hotel, 28th floor)...nice, chic, place with great music (they play music (ie) buddha bar, cafe del mar, etc)...place designed by phillip stark. perfect out of the bond setting!!! so bond girl...style it up. casual and smart. ** http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/HongKong/Felix.asp the rest is all ears...i'm flexi. hope to see you all there. winston

Hello my friends,
I'm packing for HK now and am very excited to meet you all. Here's the plan: Per Winston's suggestion, let's meet at STAR PIER next to Ocean Terminal at 5pm this Saturday (February 22nd.) From there, we can move about and not be tied down to an agenda/restaurant. In other words, we can have a nice dinner and then go out on the town, possibly including Flexi. If you are familiar with HK, please come with restaurant recommendations in hand and if you're ambitious please feel free to make reservations for 6 people. (Winston, if we don't do Flexi Saturday, let's go another night.) Attendees are the following: Travelagent4thailand (Winston) JoyceHK Vigi Yen2 Bond_Girl (Mayah) Cheryl (Mayah's friend) You will know who I am because I will have the RED WEST BATON in hand. (FYI, it looks like a pipe bomb but isn't! Any issues with that, please contact Jim35.) I look forward to meeting you all on Saturday at 5pm!!! Mayah...aka Bond_Girl P.S. How's the weather in HK?

Jim, let's hope they don't think the baton is something else when I pass through customs!! I'll make sure my underwear and feminine products are nicely and neatly packed away. G_G, Thailand is next!!!!!

Hey frenz, I am on. Please include me on the list. However, I might not be able join you for the dinner, I am involved in the helping team for Action Asia Competition on Saturday, may finished late. I'll need to go back home for a shower and refresh a bit before meeting you guys.
I''ll leave my mobile no. to your mailbox, in case you need any help during your stay, you can call me anytime. JUMBO Seafood is in fact a tourit trap. For good Chinese restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui, I would suugest Peking Restarant in the Star House, next to Star Ferry Pier. HK's weather is warm now, 18-24 degree celcius. A little humid, no rain though. Looking forward to see you guys. Virginia
