Hello Freinds,
I am in love with Sighisoara, and I was very curious to know how much a 3 bedroom house would cost in that place?

I would also like to know how much a 2-3 bedroom flat would cost around the citadel or not too far away?

I would appreciatte some reliable information that I can trust..

If I got it right, we are talking he cost of buying property in Sighisoara, and not rental. The market is developing, people have become far more aware of the value their houses mean and nothing is as cheap as it used to be a few years ago, when smart investors bought the buildings nowadays hosting the Sighisoara Hotel, the Casa Wagner, the Casa Legenda and so on. Although the price differs alot from place to place, I would dare say you won't find too many options under EUR 50000 for a two bedrooms apartment in the fortress, even that quite hard to pop on. Keep in mind the fact that the whole fortress is about 150 houses, hence the rather restricted offer. Instead of Sighisoara, better deals can be done nowadays in promising towns and villages, such as Medias, Biertan, Viscri, Darjiu etc., where 10 years from now owning a house in a quasi-central area will equal a goldmine, house that can be bought nowadays, if properly researched on site, for a few thousands euros.

There could be real estate agencies in Brasov or Targu Mures dealing with places around, but it is better to go straight there and ask around. You can start with someone at the city hall / mayor's office, post some little ads in the post office or so. You save the real este agency commission too, but when making a deal, get a civil law barrister to look over documents.

Hello Peejroo - You may know all of this already, but if not be aware also that if buying a house as opposed to an apartment, you won't be able to buy the land the house is on in your own name, assuming that you are not a Romanian citizen. Also be sure to get the house/apartment looked at by someone who understands construction, as the build quality/materials used can be poor, and you'll need to check out potential problems like damp/subsidence etc. that the owners probably won't tell you about. Bear in mind that for the same reason a house in particular if not inhabited year round will develop problems because of the extremes of climate! Another issue is the price you may be asked for as a foreigner might be above the odds - the last few years as Alex mentioned people have begun to realise the potential value of their properties and have got used to visitors coming back to buy houses. The best way round this, in my experience, is to get a Romanian to pose as the buyer until a price has been agreed on. Hope this is helpful,

Hi folks, good advice there on Sighisoara. I'm also interested in buying property in the town, and have a particular one in mind, but it needs some work to do renovating it. Can anyone recommend a property valuer in the area, or give me the romanian classification type for this type of professional, so I can search for it in the phone book?
