Re: From Durres to Athens Posted: Thu January 6, 2005 07:29 PM UTC
I did some travelling in Albania last summer. I took a bus from the Macedonia to Durres. I then left Durres with a ferry to Bari, Italy.
I know that there is a bus connection from Tirana to Kakavija on the Greece border. From Kakavija there are buses to Ioannina on the Greek side. From Ioannina it should be no problem to continue with another bus to Athens. I am not sure if the bus from Tirana to Kakavija drives through Durres. You can check that when you get to Durres. If there is no direct connection from Durres to the Greek border, you need to go to Tirana first. So as a summary it should be no problem to get from Durres to Athens overland. It is just going to take some time and effort, but on the other hand it is cheaper than flying ...
