Private tours in Grand Cayman
Posted: Sat January 1, 2005 11:49 PM UTC
My husband and I will be taking our first cruise to the Carribbean in late February. We wanted to see the highlights of the island and snorkle at Stringray city and was wondering if anyone knew of a good private tour guide. Wanted to avoid the cattle car feeling.

we went in a small group from our cruise ship and it was great, but there will be plenty of local guides at the port when you disembark if you want to go independantly
dont forget that if you do take a private tour and are delayed your ship WILL leave without you

When you are in George Town, yes, there are dozens of taxis/tours avail., but if you contact the Cayman Dept. of Tourism, or Chamber of commerce, you can get previsit list of operators, & contact for prebooking (so many are friendly, knowledgable...just check fees/if proper "tour").
I manage Pure Art on South Church St., & many tours stop to see "local" art/gifts...so maybe I'll meet you!
Enjoy your day in Cayman...most folks on tours/cruise ships express Cayman's the favorite stop, & later stay on island for next holiday!
We are recovering from hurricane Ivan, but greenery/flowers returning, diving is great, & all visitors appreciated...just realize a few roofs still to fix, fences to straighten, yards to clear...but lots done! Enjoy!

We went with Sotos Cruises and they are the best. When you get there, look for the coupon in Activity Guide Magazine ;)

I know you probably already went on your trip, but here is info for others, we went on the mobydicktours sting ray trip, great, small numbers and low cost, you can reserve via email as well, but watch out for the time difference between the cruise ship and the island.
