Brielle Historical re-enactments
Posted: Sat February 8, 2003 04:47 PM UTC
Every April 1st the citizens of Brielle get into their 16th century gear and re-enact the historical happenings of April 1st 1572, the liberation of Brielle from the Spanish by the Sea Beggars (Geuzen).
It's a day of fun and history!

Does your town have historical re-enactments where everyone can join in?
If so, where, why and how? And dates too please!

All the time and everywhere. Virginia is loaded with battlefields from both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. There are constnt reenactments at each location.

Really? Is there a website about them?
You see, I find these historical reenactments great fun and educative too. In my country they are not so common, but it seems in the UK and USA the are.
I'm asking dates and places as it might be a travel theme that I'd like to explore.

I also adore Son et Lumière shows (Sound and Light) in France where a whole story is often told without actors but just by sound and light effects in some historical surrounding like a castle or cathedral or open air.

Thanks advantix. I know about Archeon. Have been there and it's been a tip on my Netherlands page since I first built it.
