Me and my family stayed at Cousin resort between 20th of december and 26 of december. We managed to survive the wave by climbing a house about 50-100 meters eastwards cousin resort. On top of that roof were about 10-15 tourists and thais. Among the thais were a women who i recognized as one of the cooks from cousin resort.

Lars,
We stayed at Cousin until Dec. 24th.

Do you know how many staff survived at the Cousin Resort? Did the tiny nice Burmese lady always serving breakfast make it? What about the manager lady at the reception?

There were also two massage place down the road and then on the right. Do you think these people made it?

Thanks so much for your reply, we miss these people so much they were so nice!

I have been in contact with Mark (he is the one handeling the booking in Cousin ) and he tells me that Sang and Sun are ok. A swedish (named Lars )who was there during the disaster tells me that he met one of the kitchen staff on (not Burma) the roof of another building, so she is allright.
He has also been told from another Svedish girl thar the girl who seemed to run the place has been seen in the hospital. But i dont know in which condition. So it seems like it is at least 4 persons from the staff who got out, but i have heard nothing about "Burma".

Mark describes the Cousin resort as "Totaly viped out"

It was a sad day for mankind

Me and my family stayed at Cousin for 10 days and left 2 days before the tsunami(!). We (2 adults and 3 small children) were in room #19 right next to the pool (maybe somebody remember us?). I also got a (sad) mail from Mark and we're so sorry him and his staff! Does anybody know what happened to the other guests? (my alternative mail adress is: nordbyvej@hotmail.com)

Best regards,
Peter Engel (from Denmark)

Hi Peter,

We are a swedish family of 2 adults and 2 teenage girls, 13 and 16, who lived at the hotel from the 15th to the 26th.
We stayed at room 115 and 116 at the end of the pool, eastwards. Until the 21st we stayed at room 2 & 4.
We were very lucky the 26th, took a boat trip to Similan, think we have a guardian angel.
We know that at least four families made it, all swedish.
One family with a teenage girl, Tove, blond mother and shaved father.
One family with 4 teenagers, they lived at one of the family bungalows beside the pool.
One family with one boy, ~3yrs, and a girl, 6yrs.
One family with two blond daughters, around 8-10yrs.
Beside these we met two of the german ladies but they said that the last one was ok but they were separated at the time.
Are you the family that left for Phuket and had a birthday party for your kid?
Mats & Inger

Hello,
I am Ruud from Holland and also stayed at the Cousin Resort at the 26th, with my thai girlfriend. I did not spent much time on the resort because i went diving for three days at the Similan (Live aboard). On the 26 i rented a car at he Cousin Resort the discover the area. Luckily at the time of the Tsunami we were visiting a watervall on higher ground.
We had to spent the night there and where never been able to return. So i cannot tell anything about the resort but i am very curious. It is good to know anything about the people involved.
All the best.
