Does anybody have any news about Doug and Mai from Mai's Quiet Zone on Bang Niang Beach in Khao Lak?
We're so worried about the whole crew working there, any information would be helpful.
I've checked all the lists and can't find their names anywhere.

Is Doug the huesband of Mai? Than he is still alive. Yesterday Iīve read a notice from his daughter in this forum. She got an e-mail that he is safe. But she didnīt knew if Mai, the children and the crew are still alive.

Is their any information about Mai and Doug and their staff? I cannot find anything on any web site either about the resort or the people.

Hello Pat,
I am Doug's son in the US. We received an email Monday AM that he dictated to someone whom he had guided to his yahoo domain. He only stated that he was alive and banged up and that he thought he had lost "everything and everyone." We have not heard a word since and fear Mai and the staff are gone. We have gathered from a few entries at this web site that the resort is completely destroyed with little chance of any survivors.
Please keep me informed if you hear any news. We'll do the same. Had you been a guest there? When?

I am sad to post here that Mai did not survive the tsunami, as is the case with a number of the staff and guests too!

There is a post at their web site listing who they know survived and who is missing and those who have been lost.

It is so tragic and so sad to lose such a jewel!
