Kollen? Sure you're in the right forum? To a Norwegian, "Kollen" usually is short for (the) Holmenkollen (ski jump), but I guess that's not what you're asking for, since you put it in the Østfold forum??
Here's a interactive map where you scan earch for street names and place names in Norway: http://ngis2.statkart.no/norgesglasset/default.html Mind you, this service works only with correct spelling, i.e. the first letter of a place or street must be capital. For Kollen I found several search results, but none of them make particular sense. If you can be a bit more specific, I'd be glad to help you out.

There's also http://www.visveg.no/
This serice is somewhat less cranky when it comes to spelling, and it also works with cut-off names. Hey, I notices you're from Salt Lake City. Great city, lived there myself a couple years back.

Just like Knerten said, I also think about Holmenkollen when someone say Kollen. But I know there is an island called Kollen outside of Rygge (Østfold), maybe it's this place you mean? In that case you can take the train to Rygge. Here is the page for the trains: www.nsb.no/internet/en/index.jhtml.
I know there are buses going in that direction too, but I'm not sure which ones. You could try to look at the pages of this buscompany: www.nor-way.no/nbeweb/index.jsp?lang=en

Thank you for the info. It is an island at the mouth of the Oslofjord. Just finished reading a book about a family that moved to the island from Fjeldstrand right after WWII.
