Galápagos Travel Forum

Hi,

I'm heading to Galapagos with a friend in February and was planning on organising a tour when arriving in Puerto Ayora.

Has anyone done this and found it worth their while? We are not rushed for time at all, and are prepared to just hang out on the island for a week or 2 if nedd be.

Any hints or tips of things we should look out for when looking for a boat would be great.

I did exactly what you're planning to do and would highly recommend it. By taking your time, you should be able to check out several options (boats) to get the best deal. The boats are all different and you will be able to get some info on what to go for and what to avoid, by chatting to those currently on cruises or those just finished. The cruises do the northern and then southern islands with a day layover for restocking at Puerto Ayora. On those days the pub is the best place for research !!

If it is really busy (I don't remember the busy seasons) you may have to wait longer but accom is fairly cheap there and the diving is the best I've seen in the world.
