Hi,
Really sorry to be negative but the Two Mile Inn is not very nice - one of the poorer Limerick hotels. The SAS Radisson is directly across the road and is much more comfy!! Also, the Two Mile Inn is quite a way out of the city centre. If you want to be nearer te action have a look at Jurys Inn or the Clarion, although this is more expensive! Paddys Day falls on a Thursday this year. Bunratty Village would be good craic - you will see it on the drive into Limerick from Shannon. Areas of interest around Limerick.... Well you will have a car, so take a drive over to West Clare - the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin Village are great and about an hours drive. Nearer to Limerick, try Killaloe on Lough Derg - really pretty! HAVE A GOOD TRIP!!

I agree about the Two Mile Inn. Try Sarsfield Bridge Hotel in town , reasonable with parking. See

thanks for the pics; the parade seems to be very animated, but I'm not sure we will be there at time enough, as our plane is landed in the afternoon in Shannon airport...

The parade starts about 11 and runs till about 1. People spend the rest of the day drinking. A visit to the Bunratty Folk Park which is on the road from airport to Limerick would be nice see http://www.shannonheritage.com/Folk_Park.htm
I hope you enjoy your visit to Limerick.

If you're interested in a very educational (and inspirational) afternoon, you might consider driving east over to Murroe, home of Glenstal Abbey. Glenstal's gardens... famous for almost-tropical beauty... will still be a little shy of bloom in March, but you can certainly enjoy the abbey's shop, ask to see their rare collection of Russian icon paintings, and sit in on one of the day's services. You'll find the schedule and more details at http://www.glenstal.org
In addition, if you head west, you could enjoy late morning in Adare with its historic buildings, and then travel southeast to Bruff and the deValera Museum. Then continue practically next door to Lough Gur, site of Knockadoon, one of the earliest (3500BC) human settlements in Ireland... as well as nearby Grange Lios, the largest stone circle in Ireland (radius 76'). These destinations are within 15 miles of Limerick.
