Re: what is worth to see in Aachen ? Posted: Tue December 21, 2004 12:59 AM UTC
Aachen Cathedral is, arguably, one of the most interesting and historically important in Europe. Founded by Charlemagne in the late 700s, it was an important centre of the Holy Roman Empire for 600 years. It is architecturally fascinating - being composed of three stylistically distinct sections - and you can even see Charlemagne's throne (alegedly). It was one of the first buildings to be inscribed on the World Heritage list in 1978. Really, really worth seeing.
Also, as already noted, Aachen is a spa town, and has lots of springs and fountains all around the city centre, and these often incorporate interesting sculptures and statues.
Enjoy your trip.

Andrew
