Hey, pretty simple question really. Does anybody who's been to Urumqi know what the dominant language is? I'm studying Mandarin Chinese and thinking of staying for a while, so did you encounter many Mandaring speakers?

Doug,
Of course Mandarin dominates in Urumqi as well as Chinese people control the city. Only in South Xinjiang you'll find Mandarin less useful.
