Canada to South Africa
Posted: Sat December 11, 2004 03:47 AM UTC
Hi, I'm a 23 year old woman travelling to Johannesburg from canada in january for a month. I am wondering if anyone has used the Bazbus and if they would recommend it? Is it worth bungee jumping at the Bloukrans or gouritz bridge rather than vic falls? What is the one thing i should see? how safe should it be travelling by bus or train by myself? any other advice welcome!
thanks.

I will also be in madrid for a layover from 8am to midnight for a day any advice on a daytrip?

The Baz Bus is very easy and convienient to use, but I think it is farily expensive. You need to have an idea of where you want to go. It isn't necessary to use the Baz Bus to go between major locations. If you are going along the garden route the Baz Bus is usefull because public transportation will not take you to all of the spots you may want to visit.
Are you interested in game parks? Are you visiting Capetown. There is a huge distance between Victoria Falls and Bloukrans gorge. You certainly aren't designing your entire trip around bungee jumping are you?

You have to give more specific information on where you are going in order to get a better advice. Let me know,
john

Hi there!

Bazbus is a great budget way to see the country - and it covers most of the areas of South Africa.

Vic Falls Bungee is 111 meters high whereas Bloukrans is 260 meters hight.... both are great... !

Safety.. if you adhere to some minor rules, such as do not display lots of cash or jewellery, ask locals for advise and do not travel alone in dark areas in urban regions or at night through rural areas you will be fine!
