Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Malaria?

I'm finding difficulty getting any independant advice on whether I need anti-malarial medication for week-long visit to the andaman islands. Can anyone help?

Take it. Malaria is on the increase in these regions. It is getting much harder to cure but still easy to prevent.
Don't even wonder about it. Take it.

The Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp (Belgium) lists the Andaman and Nicobar islands as regions where the risk for maleria exists.
They recommand "positive measures" to prevent attracting the desease. The Institute publishes the treatment scheme recommended by the WHO per region at : http://www.itg.be/itg/Uploads/MedServ/mal2004.jpg.
You will see that for continental India another recommendation is made than for the Andaman islands.
Hope this helps you decide.
The foreign office of your country probably has a health department for travelers. You could check with them as well.
