Hi,

I'm have been studying in Beijing with IES since Septembe. I am traveling to Guilin starting December 10. Do you know the best route to get form Guilin to Yanshuo? Are there any chill cafes and hang out places that you know of? Greatly appreaciated!

i tink the easiest would be take a bus, those that only ply the Guilin-Yangshuo route. Cost is cheap and the bus parks which serve as pickup/dropoff points are located centrally, near hotels.
In yangshuo u can just walk around, there are quite a few cafes. Try staying at the Rainbow Hotel(if its still there).

I was there last october : Very easy : A bus at the bus station ( not far from train station ) goes there every hour or 40 minutes , the journey lasts 1 hour , the bus is comfortable and has air-con ( when needed ) , and it costs 13 Yuan . Buy the ticket at the ticket desk only , otherwise if you buy a ticket to someone near the station , it may be a very slow and poor shape bus . To reach this bus station when leaving the train station , go left, on the same side of the sidewalk as the station , the bus station is 200 or 300 meters away . If you want to stay a while in Guilin , go to the Youth Hostel on the other side of the boulevard (from the train station ) , it is located behind the "New Plaza Hotel" , you reach it by taking the alley on the right of the Plaza Hotel , and at some point , turn left . You have to climb stairs , to reach the hostel . It is brand new , very comfortable , and only 30 Yuan a bed .
