Hello,

I will be in Bucharest, Romania and wanted to make a visit to Veliko Turnovo. I have seen that it is relatively easy to get to Veliko Turnovo from Ruse, but was wondering if anyone can give me advice on the best way to travel from Bucharest to Veliko Turnovo. I assume I can take a train from Bucharest to the border, then change trains to go to Ruse then Velko Turnovo. Is it a difficult connection for someone who doesn't speak Bulgarian (or Romanian!)

It wouldn't be a problem to travel through Romania and Bulgaria without knowing the language. I think that you will have to change trains only once (they pass the border).

There is a direct train. You can get the schedule at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en? Use the cities Bucuresti and Veliko Tarnovo. The Romanian Railway page, www.cfr.ro and the Bulgarian railway page, http://razpisanie.bdz.bg don't list international trains very well.

If I have only a limited amount of time in Bulgaria -- would you recommend Veliko Turnova or Koprivishtitsa?

Hard task to solve :-)
If you go from Russe vias Veliko Turnovo to Sofia, you can visit either Bozhentsi or Koprivshtitsa. Veliko Turnovo, Koprivshtitsa and Bozhentsi are all very nice places.
