Re: What is the Tarangire Safari Lodge like? Posted: Fri December 31, 2004 06:07 PM UTC
The lodge is not all that modern, but has great views to the river below. You can stay in large tents with ensuite shower or in stone bungalows. I would recommend the tents - much more atmospheric. The food is OK. It also has a swimming pool. Recently been revamped a bit, it is not bad value for money and you are in the heart of the park. There are lots of other lodges around Tarangire NP, some quite up market. All in all Tarangire Safari lodge is a safe bet. Tarangire has lots of animals at certain times of the year. Between Nov - June, when there is lots of grass & water around it can be quite empty, but you will always find elephants and resident game like impala, baboon. In the dry months everything comes back to the Tarangire river which runs through the park and it is teaming with animals. Have a great trip Nigel
