| Roswell | How Will I To Roswell? Posted: Mon February 3, 2003 07:59 AM UTC
I'll be staying to NM for 3 weeks. And I am interested in going to Roswell. How will get to Roswell from Rio Rancho Drive, Rio Rancho? Is there any available public transportation, such as bus? Thanks

I drove when I went, however, I would recommend that you weigh your travel time and inconvienence of getting there with the lack of anything much to do there. There is a UFO museum there that will take about an hour of your time if you read everything and look at everything, and most of it isn't very interesting. The lamp posts are the most interesting thing I found in the city, they are all shaped liked alien heads. The actuall "crash" site is actually about 50 miles away, and area 51 or whatever it is is in Nevada. So, I would suggest reconsidering the trip if it is going to be a great hasattle getting there.

Basically, you are talking about a trip from Albuquerque to Roswell. You can take the bus or drive yourself. The trip is about 200 miles. Most people go through Socorro and then turn over on hiway 380. You can also follow I-40 to Clines Corners (tourist trap) and turn south on hiway 285 also.

There is probably bus transportation to get you to Roswell. Roswell itself isn't that great, I can understand why they left the alien that supposedly crashed there. The UFO museum is really fun to check out, tho.
When we went that way, we went south to Carlsbad Caverns and really enjoyed it. Also, near Alamagordo is the NASA museum, which was great. Have fun! DJ Starr, Boulder, Colorado USA

Hi Guys1 Thanks a lot for the advice and replies, though it seems that I am already having second thoughts of going there.
I have a another questions, how long it will take from Rio Rancho to Roswell (journey time). Are there any good foods to eat at the diner?

RR to Roswell: Take NM 528 (Rio Rancho Blvd) south to Albuquerque's Coors Blvd. South on Coors to I-40. East on I-40 to Clines Corners. South at Clines Corners on US 285 (MM218). South to Vaughn. Then 90 miles of wide-open nothing to Roswell. About 220 miles, 4-1/2 hours if you drive "normal."
Roswell has SOME attraction, although the Alien connection isn't it. That's hokey stuff, but Roswell has New Mexico Military Institute - a prep/ Jr. College institution with loads of tradition. Roger Staubach played there "way-back-when." Bottomless Lakes are nearby - a good recreation area by some standards. But mostly, Roswell isn't a place for tourists. Just MHO. If you're going to stay in NM, come up to

If you're going to stay in NM, come up to the 4 Corners. (Farmington area.) From there, you can visit Colorado's mountains, NM's ancient American Indian culture ruins, and bask in the fellowship of New Mexico's friendliest folks! Again, just in MHO.
