The road from Kuantan to Kuala Trengannu is one of the most beautiful drives in the world. I used to live in a kampung house on a beach there.

Hi, Wufei,

Well, I am nothing really sure that how you get such a perception of Kuantan. Personally, I thought that Kuantan is a great place. I might not as beauty as Pulau Perhentian or Redang, but it has its unique attraction.

You'll get beaches, sea products and a lot more local special attraction.

You might need to stay more days to retrieve its special.

Because nobody knows about Kuantan.

If the Kuantan - Karak highway project is not there. I in doubt KLlites will go to Kuantan for holiday.

Very good question to discuss about indeed. What are their impression of Kuantan? How about Kemaman?

Do you think that those who lives in Kuantan still staying in wooden houses? Work as a fisherman? Living in the jungle like orang asli or everybody still pakai sarung running in the kampung? Very interesting indeed?

What about Kemaman? Kuala Terengganu? A pit stop to Redang? ---> Real experience, this is what the KLlites told me.

Beautiful beaches? Nah Can't even compare with east coast. Looks at Port Dickson -- > Dirty, crowded and NO WAVE. Looks at the real beach in east coast. I said sandy beaches that you can walk on it.

Hi, Wufei,

Just saw your homepage, and just knowing that you are from Kuantan, it is a good question raise and discuss here.

Well, I think it is quit difficult for the tourist and urbanese to understand about a place which are less discussed, personally I think Kuantan still not in the list yet, if you compare with Perlis ( some even think that Perlis is a town in Kedah), and the East Malaysia people also always think that West Malaysia will never understand their culture. This is from my experience.

However, for me, the most important thing for this page is to tell the world what we have and what unique culture we kept.... I love Perlis and Kangar as I miss it, I am now in JB.

I dream of one day, may be after my retirement, I would offer all sort of even in Perlis and bring travellers to explore Perlis from the different side of the tourist attraction.

See it at different point, you'll see the beauty!

after reading all the feedbacks, I still have to say this.....kuantan is a nice place and still a nice place. just that if you think somewhat it is not commercialized enough, may be its time you do something or blame it to your state government.

i love kuantan for being 'didn't changed much' kinda feeling, know what i mean ?

Sorry I'm not entirely agree with this statement.

What you don't know/see doesn't mean not exist, there are plenty of interesting spots in Kuantan. Some of them have not been explored even by the locals.

I have got some info about them (which I havent got time to put them in VT), let me know if you are interested.

Cheers

If you think that TC, MegaMall are the only attraction spots .... we might think Kuantan is not a popular tourist attraction.

ok ... try this

Pandan Waterfall

Charas & Panching Caves (hundred of thousands year limestone cavern, buddist sanctuary)

Panorama Hill (Sg. Lembing)

Balok Beach (surprisingly, it's regarded as one of the
10 best wind surfing beaches in the world!)

Cherating Beach, the first and one of the few Club Med (not more than 5) in Asia located here

Berkelah waterfall (not even heard of? each year, there are loads of coaches carrying singaporean and westeers to this waterfall)

Gunung Tapis, a beautiful nature park, advanturous and exciting! great scenery

Sg. Kenau Waterfall, another getaway waterfall near sg. lembing

OK, guys. How many of the above you have visited before?
don't just finger point the state govt for not doing enough to promote Kuantan. We, as Kuantanese, can contribute some tiny efforts to tell the world how our hometown looks like. If we don't do, who else would?

Best wishes

Charas & Panching Caves

Panorama Hill (Sg. Lembing)

You need a car. r u driving to Kuantan?

what is the date? Maybe I can guide you because I'm going back for Chinese New Year.

Early morning wake up and start your journey at 5:30 .
Hike up to Sg Lembing hill.
The feeling is speechless when u r on top of the hill.
Can see sunrise and it looks like u r flying on top of the cloud. Can see panching cave from there if u can identify.
8am Just nice come down to have breakfast
Then goto muzium - open at 9
Crystal house - belongs to an uncle i known
Jambatan Gantung (hanging bridge) just for those first timer
then head to charas/panching hill. Another climb. Very steep. with staircase.
Nice view from the top and a sleeping buddha statue in the cave.

My wife and I will be travelling to Kuantan from JB in a friend's car. Will reach kuantan in the morning (9am maybe) on 12th feb. He will be playing golf with his friends over there while we explore on our own. We are staying at Swiss Garden Hotel. Will be there for a night. Got to leave Kuantan for Jerantut on 13th feb. 3pm bus is the last bus.

Short stay there only. My wife loves beach. But I suppose we will not be spending whole day at the beach. That's why wish to find out where else to go.

in view of this, what do you suggest?
thanks!

golf.....kuantan offers 3 cources (1) Austin Hill I think, enroute to Sg. Limbing (2) Royal Pahang by the Cempedak Beach & (3) Legenda at Pekan. I have only played at RP and it was a very beautiful course. I heard the Lagenda is by the beach and also very beautiful, offers including one of the longest par 5 in Asia !!

Its depends on you
Either travel north or head west.
North we have Cherating
Or near Royal Pahang Golf Course we have Teluk Cempedak.
In my opinion just head north to Cherating.
In the afternoon get back to the town. buy some souvenior and seafood

Hi aussirose,

I afraid I don't have them handy at moment. I do have loads of photo developed from 35 mm though, but not digitally. Been away from Kuantan for 12 years, havent had chance to visit those places since I bought my digital SLR ... shame.

Anyway, I have one picture posted on my VT page, it was taken ages ago when I was still a 'lad'. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/p/m/1b270f/

I suppose you can find many info of those places I mentioned earlier in here
http://www.pahangtourism.com.my/
good luck!

Took the kids yesterday over to our little island offshore here called Rottnest Island. Had a fab time!! Anyway, thanx for your help, ...and get those pix up soon 'eh :o) Cheers, Ann.
