I´m planning a trip from Argentina to Peru.
Will fly Bs As-Lima, and then Lima-Cuzco, to go to Machu Picchu.
After that, taking the PeruRail, will go to Puno and titicaca lake.
The question is: to return from Puno to Lima, what route should I take? again the same train, or I should take a Bus (I´ve been said that train between Puno Arequipa are not available) to Arequipa traveling a new route, and there fly to Lima?

I'd continue by bus from Lake Titicaca to La Paz, and fly back from there.

Flying from La Paz to Lima will probably be much more expensive than flying from Puno to Lima because it is an international flight. I'd just flight from Puno to Lima. When I did this you had to stop in Juliaca but there may be direct flights now. Either way, it was quick and pretty cheap.

I dont recomendo you to travel by buss during the rainy seasong, you have to know that it is over a day of traveling, and maybe you should just use the air plane, is not going to be as cheap as the bus but is safer

I'd take a flight Juliaca - Lima too -the airport is located in that city, there isn't any in Puno, but it's rather close-.
The other option would be going by bus to Arequipa, but it'd take many hours. Not the best option if you want to rest or if you have a tight schedule. Anyway, the buses usually leave at night and you get to Arequipa very early in the morning.
The funny thing is that there are flights from Juliaca to Lima that first stop in Arequipa, Cusco, and then Lima! 4 airports in the same morning, isn't that an adventure?

Hello. I have a different but related question and this seems like a good thread. We are ultimately going from Puno to Quito and are planning to go either Puno to Copacabana on the first day, Copacabana to La Paz the second day, and leave for Quito the third morning, OR Puno to Arequipa the first day, spend the second day in Arequipa, and then Arequipa to Quito (via Lima) the third morning. The price is not so different so my question is what you recommend?
