Now that the new VT has Scotland as a destination, I would like to know if any VT'ers has ever visited the old Forge at Inverie?

Yep! three years ago in february with a french friend, we spent six weeks driving from Southampton up the east coast to scotland and as far as the snow would allow (Inverness)us in a puegot 504.Then we dropped down to nevis and decided we,d like to go to Skye but the weather and seas wouldnīt allow so we settled in to the Old Forge and got ratted (again) I think the name of the band playing was called Wide eyed Biddy. Great nosh, the folks are friendly and it was warm. Boy were we glad, because the heating broke down in the car and we had to keep defrosting the windows with our hands, of course we didnīt have de-icer, where we come from you donīt usually need it. We bought a load of haggis to take back and then left it in a friends fridge down south. Curses!!!!!!
As we had no heating we would do a distillery tour each mornig to warm us up till lunchtime.
Great fun and would definately go back, I love Scotland.
But why do you ask??

Can't have been the old Forge at Inverie. There is no road out there LOL
Sounds like you had a great trip though :-)
It is stated in the Guiness record book as mainland Britains most remote pub. You can only get there by boat. I was just wondering if anyone else had been there :-)

OOps! Drunk again. So where the hell were we with boats going to Skye and some other island (donīt remember where because it wasn,t where we wanted to go) Or maybe the 504 had gone turtle! Or maybe I am a seagull?

It is near Skye, but there is only a small boat that goes there. It doesn't take cars :-) I went there by sailboat as part of my trip circumnavigating Scotland in July....
Would be fun if another VT'er had been there :-))

Let me know if you do it again and need a crew member with about 3000 mile experience.

Unfortuneately not, most of the miles were clocked up doing boat deliveries between Marmaris in southern Turkey and Athens even so we,d do about a 350 miles without much rest and the weather there in October can be very trying. Everything else was done on day rips from Emsworth, U.K. Iīd like to cross at least one ocean before I become an old seabird.

Try the North Sea. A refreshing experience! lol
The longest leg was about 360 miles Bergen - Invernes, though Shetland - Bergen was only 200 miles on the way back.
