Luggage and RER - from CDG to Garu Du Nord station
Posted: Tue November 30, 2004 04:56 AM UTC
Hello all!

Now that I know that there is a left luggage service at the Garu Du Nord station, I'm planning on storing my luggage there for the four days I'll be in Paris. Since I will be taking the RER from the airport to the Garu du Nord station, would that be too much of a pain to drag my luggage to the RER? Is the RER going to be crowded? I'll have to big luggage with me and I'm travelling alone - one suitcase and another a big trekking bag.

Thanks! Any suggestion to make this easier is most welcome.

We took the RER from CDG to Gare Du Nord. We were 2 people with each 1 big suitcase and a trekking bag. Taking the RER was hororable. There is no room on the train for putting your luggage and by the time you arrive in Gare Du Nord the train is so packed with people that it is difficult to get off. You will only have maybe 30 seconds to get off as the train is going further. When you'll take the RER make sure you stand near the exit door from the start. You still have to go a whole way from the RER station to the luggage room (stairs, escalators and RER exit gates almost impossible to get your big suitcases through). Well to make it short, it was no fun!

Hello !
I agree and I don't agree.
The RER is good if you can avoid the rushing hour,
if you use it at 10-12 (morning) and 14-16 (afternoon) it is quite good
But don't do that if ou have more than 2 lugages.

PRO
You will find lifts and escalators at CDG and Gare du Nord
The RER is the best way to avoid the traffic,
but if you arrive at night, the Roissy-bus , Bus Air-France or the taxi is better.

CON
Gare du Nord, is not a nice station (quite dark, and crowded)
