| Sri Lanka | Honeymoon October Posted: Thu November 25, 2004 04:30 AM UTC
Hi, we are looking at having our honeymoon in Sri Lanka in October 2005. We want to spend a few days relaxing in a nice hotel on the beach (not TOO expensive!) and then travelling around the island for a week or so. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in a place with great beaches? We're looking for romance and relaxing!!
Thanks! Fiona |

There are many nice places to visit in Sri Lanka. It would all depend on your interests and hoe much of time you have to spend in Sri Lanka.
Let me know if you would like some ideas: nilankap@sltnet.lk Cheers, Nilanka

We had a fantastic time at Paradise Beach in Marissa - beach is fantastic. Bungalows almost on the beach. It was approx $50 per night for 5 including breakfast and evening meal. Can't wait to go back. Kandy - stayed in the Queen's - dreadful place. Yala stayed in the Safari park - great and different. Hill Club okay but will stay in Tea Factory next time.

Dear Fiona,
You might want to try Arugam Bay on the East coast. Quite touristy but the Siam beach is well worth a visit and the surfing and beach is excellent. If the political situation allows, try Hotel Club Oceanic in Trinco. If you are clever you can stay at the MUCH cheaper beach cabanas next door (sorry forgot the name) and just pay a couple of hundred rupees to use the facilities at Oceanic. The beach at Trinco is deserted and fantastic!!!! Hope this helps Mike

Hi Fiona
Anywhere around Bentota Beach should be ok by then by all accounts the damage around that area was very little and there are some reasonable hotels there the beach is like paradise and very relaxing. Have a really good time and a fantastic honeymoon. Dont let what happened put you off. The Sri Lankan people are the most genuine and kind people you will find anywhere and if you get chance take a trip around the island. It is well worth it. Regards Bev
