Hey buddy,

Well Vadodara is a place wherein i spent my childhood. Thanks to british occupation it was later named as Baroda. History dates back to 1000 BC. history says that its foundation name was Vadapatraka. Its an Sanskrit name, meaning city of Banyan Trees. this was due to the fact that there were lot of banyan trees found on the river Viravati now called Vishwamitri. though in modern Baroda or say Vadodara, there are few Banyan trees left, but as said, nothing is grown under banyan tree, but i think city is a symbolic representation of banyan tree in terms of inclusiveness of all cultures and races.

Before Bristishers arrived, it was ruled by famous and forward thinking rulers of Gaekwad Family. It has always been a progressive city since hundreds of years. This city hosts one of the first planetoriums in india called Sardar Patel Planetorium and famous Museum wherein one can find the historical remnants of the famous rulers. Baroda is also famous to have M S University. it boasts of class education imparted in Technical/Arts/medical/foreign study/home science/architecture are world reknowned and lot of foreign students drop in here. it also has India's second largest Dome constructed. at presently under it, Dept of Commerce in MS University runs academic classes.

To visit places around Baroda is 1. Kevadia Colony, famous Dam over River Narmada is under construction. one can reach pretty near to this highest dam ever to be constructed in India and so many others. pls visit http://www.suratcityonline.com/cities/baroda/index.asp website.

My hometown is synonymous to education. City is known for quality education, tradition and culture within the state of Gujarat, India.
