Saint-Tropez Travel Forum

I am flying into Marseille this next June. I have reserved a hotel in St Tropez for a couple nights and then Cannes for 1 night. The rest of the trip will be in Provence. Should I rent a car and try to drive along the Cote d'Azur? I have heard it is crazy packed with cars and no parking. Or should I train/bus this part of the trip and then rent a car once I get to Avignon? If I train it, how best to go from Marseille to St Tropez?? I read that the train do not go through St Tropez and so I would have to catch a bus or boat??

for information, there is no train station in st tropez...
taxi are expensive
try to rent a car at the airport, you can find parking everywhere(center or near the beach)
if you organise it now, you can get a good price on the renting of the car.
the best for you is to look on the marseille aiport website, to contact the car rentals.

Hi there, I have been to St Tropez a few times and if you don't want to hire a car, there is a good bus service to ST Raphael.(takes about 40 mins) The train station there will take you to Marseilles, Avignon etc. You can also get a train from St Raphael along the coast to Cannes. This is a great journey that finally ends in ventagmilla, Italy. Check out Rail Europe's site for train info. Hope this helps, Clarice.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and rented a car. I will memorize my maps so that I can make fork in the road decisions without having to take my eyes off the road!! Can't wait to hit the beach!
