Guilin Travel Forum

Hi, I have lived in China now for about 2 months and have finally found time to go travelling and leave the pollution hell hole of Dongguan. I only have 10 days so thought a trip to Guilin would be a laugh. But worried that I will be the only person there this time of year! Is this true? Or will there be enough backpackers to make the trip worthwhile? Planning to do the whole boat trip thing and travel around a bit so anyone interested in meeting up should get in touch.

It is NOT true in Yangshuo: Many many non-Chinese travelers now even are living and/or having their business (cafe, bars etc) there semi-permanently.

Being a backpackers' heaven in China and nice weather all year long, you sure will see many of them there regardless of the 'season'.

You could skip Gui Lin and spend all your time in Yangshuo and its vincinity and enjoy the unique countryside. Rent a bike, and bike along the Li River.

I'm sure you can meet people in Yangshuo. Not neccessary backpackers though. I met 2 kiwi girls teaching english there, and they brough us to a local expat bars, much fun though.
