| Lhasa | Should sleeping bag be the necessity? Posted: Mon November 22, 2004 02:15 AM UTC
I'm travelling by jeep from Lhasa to Katmandu in May on a basic tour. I don't want to take a sleeping bag. Tour company say it is optional but recommended for the monastry near Everest Base Camp. But that's only one night. So two questions:
1) Has anyone done a trip like this without a sleeping bag and lived to tell the tale? 2) Would a space blanket be an acceptable alternative to a sleeping bag? All or any advice gratefully accepted. Good travelling everyone. Thanks all. |

Personally, i think a sleeping bag is necessary. especially, for the base camp, it's still very cold at May. i'm not sure if u can stand the strong smell that the carpet they provide to u. so, better u bring a sleeping bag urself. and what do u mean for a space blanket? sorry for my poor English.
since u go with a tour agency, everything should be fine generally.

Hi!
I'm planning to go from Kathmandu to Lhasa in May as well. Can you tell me the name of the operators you're going with and how much that runs? If I don't book something like this now is it possible to do it directly in Kat? Thansk!

Hi there,
I too will be travelling that route in May / June 2005. Could you please let me know which tour company you are using as I am finding it difficult to find one that stays at the monastry at Everest Base Camp. Many thanks for your help. Gavin
