Is it safe ?

Hi, I am planning a trip to Phuket in late Dec 2004.

Does anyone know if Phuket is still safe what with the recent events in South Thailand ?

Also what is the climate in late Dec ?

I am actually contemplating btn Holiday Inn and Amari Coral Inn.

I haven't been since last year, but from everyhting I hear, Phuket is perfectly safe still and all the trouble is in limited areas further SE, around Pattani I believe.

Hi all, thanks so much for all the responses, Mrjemm, m_lee and zazatann. I will have to discuss further with my travel mates, and I guess our next choice would be Langkawi. We just wanted a short getaway to rest & relax w/o the worries.

Zazatann - i would actually be going down to bangkok this very friday for a short trip. staying till monday. :)
