What should I go see in Zurich?

I will have about 6-7 hours to spend in Zurich next month. What are the sites that I must see while away from the airport?

Should I get a taxi and have it take us to these places?

Hi,

Well, I lived for 5 months in Zuerich and I can tell you a few things you really should see ( I think).

Well first you just go downtown, to the Bahnhofsstrasse and just talk a stroll down that street. Watch the trams go by... Then you can go to the Zuerichsee ( lake Zuerich). Maybe do a boattrip, have a snack in a nice cafe.

6-7 hours is not much, but there is a nice touristcentre at the Bahnhof in Zuerich. And if you are there next month, you will see the beautiful christmas decorations... I am a little jealeous...
Greetings,

Danaja

If you have enough time you could take the train to Utelberg and get a great over view of the entire city. Its a beautiful view from the top of the mountain and its just a short train ride.

Hi, yes 6-8h are not much for visit zurich.
A Taxi from The airport to the city is too much: about 50-60CHF (35-40 Euros) !!!!!
Better you use The Train. - all people in switzerland use the train. Its public transport number 1

You can take the train from Zürich Airport to Zürich Mainstation. There are about 10 Trains per hour. The journey takes you 10minutes,and coast about 10CHF (7EUR). This ReturnTicket is valid for 24 hours and allows you to use all public transports (tram anf bus) in the City of zurich.
In The Train Station of Zurich is in the Main hall in december a very nice critmas-market.
There is also a tourist office where you can book short city trips.
If you like a city trip (coach- or walkingtours) book it when you arrive - i dont know how many tours are at one day.

(After the tour) you can also walk down the "Bahnhofstrasse" (Station Road) wich is whell decorated - also with 20602 of lamps in the sky. ---

WOW. At this moment im watching the news. This year they swich-on the world known christmas-lamps for the last time. :-( - So, you have to see it.

Walk until the lake, Cross the River (wich flows in the lake) and enjoy the amazing view along the river and the nice Buildings behind.
Walk back to the Station on the right side of the river.
This "Short" walk takes 1-2hours (it depends how much shops you visit ;-)

If you need more Informations, contact me by VT-Mail
Kind Regards from Switzerland
