I am travelling to Vila Real and am trying to find a restaurant called Restaurant a Lareira. I cannot find it on any web site. Does anyone have any information about this restaurant? I think the owner may be an old friend, but I am not sure.

I found a restaurant called A Lareira in Vila Real, but only got a phone number. 259-356-319
In another page on Vila Real, I saw the same restaurant name, with the district Aljezur beside it.

I found the one site with the phone number, I was hoping to find some information, but there doesn't seem to be any anywhere. I will take your suggestion and try another search using Aljezur in the search. Hope it works! I appreciate your help!

ok. Actually, I think Aljezur is a district of Vila Real and from the list of restaurants I saw from the Vila Real page, I doubt that more info would be found under specific districts. They seemed to be indicated only to give people an idea of the location within Vila Real.

I think you guys are confusing Vila Real with Vila Real de Santo António.
Vila Real is in the north of Portugal and VRSA is in the south, in Algarve, 600Km away
Aljezur is in Algarve

Okay, now I'm really confused. The last address I had just said 5000 Vila Real, Portugal. I didn't know there were two of them. I just always thought it was in the north. (Can you tell I've not yet been to Portugal??) I appreciate all your help. Maybe I'll be able to figure it out! Maybe I should just call the number and find out...problem is, if someone answers that doesn't speak English, I'm in trouble! :)

5000 Vila Real is in the north, around 100Km from Porto :)

after a search I did I found out that the first phone nr given here (259 35 63 19) must be correct because is in the Vila Real city. After that I found out in www.118.pt the following address
Restaurante "A lareira" - Hernani & João ld
Lugar da Compra
Cruz de Ponte
Vila Real

so it must be this :)

thanks bambino! I was only given 'Vila Real' to go with... :-) and searching the Net, under Vila Real, I found the restaurant A Laleira. I had no idea then what the zip code was. On another page for Vila Real, I saw the same name 'A Laleira', with the added info of the district. What a coincidence if two Vila Real in Portugal have a restaurant called A Laleira! :-)
Now that I know the OP was looking for a place in 5000, I know it's in the North, because Vila Real de Santo Antonio in the Algarve is 8900...

I just checked the Northern Vila Real restaurants and didn't find 'A Laleira'... but it won't be difficult to phone and ask for a friend by name. Good luck Amber!

Wow! You guys are amazing! I have been looking forever for information and in one day you find it for me. I am sure that is the restaurant. I will try the phone number and check it out. Sorry I didn't give the code right from the beginning, I wasn't sure what it was because our addresses aren't like that. :)

Codes are not so important in fact :)
But when we talk about a restaurant with a name like "A Lareira"... there must be hundreds of them all over the country :)

lareira is a fireplace .. like the ones we have at home :)
normally in the north most houses have one...
