New Year's in Berlin
Posted: Sat November 6, 2004 10:50 PM UTC
Hey,

I'm interested in booking a hotel in Berlin since my parents are traveling there for New Year's. Any suggestions? I've got no idea which hotel to decide for because there are loads of them. And I don't think my dad would be OK to pay *a lot* for accomodation :-)

Hi Jerca,

Not sure what your parents are looking for in terms of type of hotel/price, but maybe this website will help:

http://www.voyagenow.com/hotels/berlin/akzent_avant_garde.html

Many hotels/pcitures can be found on the site. I opened to the Avant Garde Hotel page because my friend and I stayed there last week and found it to be lovely. The rooms are very large and the service was excellent. The loctation was also ideal - a subway station and the 'Zoo' Station were both practically both right outside the door.

Good luck finding a hotel,
Robin Linda

What would be the price range acceptable? For a decent standard hotel not too far out of town you should expect to pay anywhere from € 40 to € 90 for a single room. This would cover the range from a two-star to a three-star establishment.

I personally very much like the Hotel Tiergarten
http://www.hotel-tiergarten.de

It is located not too far fromTegel Airport, and using the TXL Airport bus you can quickly get to Berlin-Mitte with all the sights there.

There also are a lot of good hostels in Berlin, it is hard to keep track, just use google.

Prices will be probably at their peak over New Year's.

I've been at the Hilton. It is placed at the "Gendarmenmarkt". It's very central located. You can reach every highlight of Berlin by foot or by subway.

It's not so exepnsive like the other big hotels, although it's a Hilton.

Here's a hotel site with usually pretty good and honest prices: http://www.hrs.de

Thanks to everyone.
Anyway, my parents found a hotel and it's booked alredy :-)
It's something new I think. I don't know it well but I know the owner speaks Slovene.... I guess they'll like it since they don't speak foreign languages :-)
