We have four days in Umbria in May. We are trying to decide whether to go the the Corsa dei Ceri race in Gubbio or the Calendimaggio in Assisi? Any recommendations? Which is more authentic-less tourists?

Gubbio is by far a less touristic town than Assisi is. Assisi has 4 mln tourists every year. This is an amazing number. Assisi is beautiful, but according to my taste it is spoiled due to tourism. Gubbio is beautiful and very authentic. I recommend the corsa dei ceri, an important event that attracts lot of people. It will be crowded, but many will be Italians, Umbrian specifically.
