| Bolzano | Castle ruins near Bolzano Posted: Mon October 25, 2004 12:46 AM UTC
Any ideas how I can find where exactly the ruins are of Schloss Unterkofler which I have been told are near Bolzano. I would like to take my young children to Bolzano in the summer of 2005 and it would be great to find out as much about the family and ruins before we get there.

Get a map of Bolzano at the tourist info. office across the street from the can't miss cathedral ( duomo ). It shows the locations of Castels Unterkofler and Roncolo. ( castel in Italian and schloss in German ). Be sure to visit Roncolo. It is very well preserved and is the prototypical medieval castle of knights and damsels. Even the drawbridge is fully intact. A great treat for a child. Re-enactment plays are held during the summer.
Do a web search of Bolzano or Bozen ( german name ) for info. Log on to initaly.com, and visit the castle section.
