We are travelling to Svalbard in the first 2 weeks of August next year. Circumnavigation by ship with numerous landings, some hiking etc.
How cold does it get.What do most people wear. We are thinking thermal underwear, t-shirt polartec fleece and a wind and rain proof jacket, beanie, scarf, gloves.

Especially as you go by ship, you should be prepared for any kind of weather and a steady breeze even on a rather warm day.
On my Arctic-page you see me with just a thin shirt and a jacket standing onboard of a cruise-ship in Magdalena-bay.
It was sunny and rather warm day, BUT staying like that on deck & you get a cold within half an hour.
especially when you intend to stay ondeck for a longer period it might make sense to have a warm sleeping-bag as well, so you may watch the landscape sitting in a deckchair.
