when is it a good time to go to batanes and where are the nice places to stay at? what activities can you do there?

Batanes is in my "wish" list of places to see. I bought this book, Philippines Travel Companion, and although not very comprehensive, basic info such as transport, accommodation and must see places are available.
Must see includes: Sto. Domingo Church, Mount Iraya, Valugan and Songsong Bays, among others. Places to stay: Batanes Resort (hill-side native cottages) and Mama Lily's Inn. From a friend who had been there before, I was told that the best time to go is summer. Batanes is frequented by typhoons and it can only be reached by small plane.

It is also one of the place on my "places to visit".
A friend recommends that best time to go is March and April, sure timing that you will not be stranded there. Asian Spirit is one the airline that fly there and on this timing its usually fully book ,so better book in advance..
