I know some hotels in Caldonazzo. In this village I think hotels are cheaper than in Trento.
Caldonazzo is about 25 km from Trento. Are you going to rent a car?

No. We wanted to stay near the main train station as we were going to be taking the train from Trento to Garmisch.
thanks

Yes, the nearest to the train station is Hotel America.
Via (Street) Torre Verde, 50. Tel. 39 0461 983010.

This is probably a little late, but for anyone else who's looking...Hotel Accademia is super close to the train station and a truly wonderful hotel - the best in Trento. It may seem a little expensive, but they do good deals, and it's worth it. Hotel America is the next best. A good family-run hotel. Avoid Hotel Venezia unless you enjoy surly hotel staff and want a pre-packaged brioche for breakfast.
