Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Beruwala Where can I get to?
Posted: Sun October 17, 2004 09:22 PM UTC
I have just booked to go to the Confifi Beach in Beruwala and as it is very last minute and I am travelling on Thursday 21st Oct it was just a question of taking pot luck. So I've not had much time to find out much and I was wondering if anyone could let me know what areas of interest are accessible from there? Will it be possible to visit Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve, or Kandy? Also, as I'll be a lone female any travel hints taking that into account would be appreciated. Do the tour companies actually operate any 'excursions' from there, or is it relatively easy to sort out your own arrangments?

Would I be right in expecting it to be wet, but hot? If so any advice on what clothing/shoes I should get on a quick last-minute shopping trip would be appreciated.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Oh, and what about currency? Best way of taking funds....?

the hotel is nice so you wont have to worry about anything. you should be able to do some day trips from the hotel but I dont think Singharaja is advisable for you alone.
shopping will have to be in Colombo. you can make a stop.
let me konw if you need anymore info.
the weather is great at the moment.

You will be able to visit Candy and the elephant orphanage, this is a 2 day trip with an overnight stop in Candy. We did it from Berowela two weeks ago, well worth it and not expensive. I would recomend booking with a taxi driver rather than the tour company.
A day trip to Galle is also worth looking at.
Two weeks ago it was still raining but very hot.
Casual clothes are the usual, dont go shopping everything you need can be made to measure when you get there.
Travellers Cheques or sterling is fine.
If you get in touch I can give you a taxidriver/guide telephone no.
