| Belize City | Hotels on Caye Caulker Posted: Fri October 15, 2004 08:33 PM UTC
Has anyone ever stayed at the Alamar Ocean View on Caye Caulker? Was it decent, great, o.k?
Any other recommendations that are fairly cheap yet clean and interesting? |

Caye Caulker is fantastic, you will be spoilt for choice for accomodation, as there are tons of places to stay, we stayed at the Tropical Paradise Hotel, very clean with shower and fans, for three people sharing it cost us 38 US dollars which is a pretty good deal.

I stayed at Popeye's this summer. You can't miss it as your boat approaches the dock. It is cheap yet still comfortable. Most importantly it had a private shower and air conditioning. There is also an unused dock to swim or sun from and hammocks. The owner is very friendly and can arrange snorkeling trips with the business next door.

I recommend Mara's Place, Tina's Backpacker and Trends(cabana)for beachfront lodging, as they are reasonable and nice. There is also Maxhapan, which is wonderful, but not beachfront, and also mostly fully booked. Make reservations!!! Belizeans don't have the same sense of space or cleanliness that we have, so alot of the places we looked at were tiny and not very clean.
