My husband and I want to get from Belize City to Belmopan. Does anyone know if the buses are safe and reliable. How do find out the schedule and make reservations?

Yes the buses are safe and reliable. Bus travel is used a lot in Belize.

Batty brothers were bought out by Novello's bus company, your best and easiet bet is to go to the bus depot and ask, I was there in mid November 2004 and got an express bus (faster and more comfy) from Belize city to Belmopan, it costs 7.50 BZ Dollars each and I believe the buses run every half hour, look at my Belize travel page and look at the travel tip, it will tell you more.

Good luck, but you won't really need it.

P.S. If you have a lot of luggage and don't wanna walk to the bus depot a taxi from the square will likely cost you 3 BZ Dollars per person, direct to the bust depot.
